The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, through WorldSkills Barbados (WSB), is preparing to send a team of young skilled professionals to the next WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi.

A four-member team, comprising winners in the Hairdressing, Garment Making, Automotive Technology and Culinary Arts categories from last year’s local WorldSkills Barbados Competition, will represent the country at the upcoming ‘skills Olympics” taking place October 14 to 19 in the United Arab Emirates.

This will be the first time that Barbados’ technical and vocational skills will be represented at this unique, live biennial competition, which is hosted by WorldSkills International, the global hub for skills excellence and development.

The Barbados delegation to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 will also include four (4) skills experts who will serve as judges at the competition and three (3) team officials. Additionally, the delegation will include two representatives to the first ever International TVET Youth Forum which is being held during the same period as the competition.

The team will be unveiled tomorrow Saturday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m. at a media briefing to officially launch the WorldSkills Barbados: Journey to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 campaign.  (PR/TVET Council Barbados)
