The evidence for prior learning assessment is presented in the form of a portfolio. A portfolio is a collection of documents and materials organized to support an individual’s claim for prior learning recognition. It may include samples of work, letters of validation and verification from companies, co –workers, supervisors, etc. which can be evaluated against the occupational standards.
The portfolio may adequately substantiate claims of competence in some areas of the occupation; however, it may be necessary for the individual to demonstrate competence in areas not appropriately covered, through a number of other modes of assessment such as a practical demonstration or oral questioning.
