Terms and Conditions

The TVET Council is a Statutory Board established under the TVET Council Act 1993-11 to coordinate and promote workforce development. In support of this mandate, the Council is expanding opportunities for demand-driven training and skills certification by promoting occupational standards-based National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs) to industry and the education and training sector.

As the Awarding Body for NVQs and CVQs, the TVET Council is once again inviting eligible persons to train and register to serve in the part-time position of Assessor in the following areas:

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor, sample and where appropriate, observe the assessment process, assessment evidence and internal verification systems
  • Verify the quality of assessment conducted by Assessors against the occupational standards
  • Provide information, advice and support to centres via telephone/written correspondence/visits, on the quality of the assessment process
  • Gather feedback on the assessment process
  • Prepare internal verification reports to be submitted to the N/CVQ Assessment Centre
  • Attend Quality Network Meetings and professional development training as required by the TVET Council
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the internal verification process.
General Requirements
  • In depth knowledge of the occupational area in which assessment will take place
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Good record-keeping skills
  • Computer literacy (n.b. ability to use the internet and Microsoft Word proficiently)
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must be a trained and certified Assessor
  • A minimum of a Diploma, Associate Degree or equivalent qualification
  • An in-depth knowledge of the occupational standards of the N/CVQs to be verified.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years current, practical experience which involved performing activities defined in the occupational standards, or,
  • A minimum of one (1) years’ experience as a trainer, instructor or manager and with at least three (3) years competence in the occupational area of the standards.

Internal Verifiers are engaged by an approved N/CVQ Assessment Centre. Their main duty is to ensure the quality and consistency of assessments by the Assessors for whom they are responsible.

Those persons selected will be required to undergo an interview and a period of training in assessment, internal verification, or external verification. The training will be conducted onsite, and online (i.e. hybrid).

  • The Assessor Training (i.e. 42 hours in total) will be held two (2) evenings per week over a 13-week period.
  • The Internal Verification Training (i.e. 12 hours in total).
  • The External Verification Training (i.e. 18 hours in total). 
     

Cost Per Workshop: BDS $200.00
